My experience at Intesa has been an amazing start of my career journey in public relations. I’m excited that it has turned out to be the positive and rewarding experience I expected it to be when I started in May. Prior to diving into my role, I anticipated doing work for a variety of San Diego organizations alongside a team of multi-talented and experienced pros – and I was spot-on. As a recent UC San Diego communication grad, I’m grateful that I’m able to stay in beautiful San Diego, having landed my dream job at Intesa.
There’s a lot I’m learning and continuing to build on as Intesa’s newest account executive. I’m learning how to interact with reporters as I pitch events, as well as how to improve my writing style to be more straightforward and concise. As for strategic communications, I’ve learned that you must tailor your message to the right people at the right time.
Six months in, I’m proud of having been able to contribute to the success of our team’s work on behalf of our clients. Our media relations results have been one of the coolest things about my role in PR thus far. One highlight includes supporting Hillel of San Diego’s groundbreaking ceremony where I met San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria and other prominent elected officials. Our hard work and determination earned 17 media hits, including local coverage by CBS 8 and NBC 7 News over our short but sweet two-week engagement with Hillel.
In my new role, I’m learning that I grow professionally each day as I work on new projects and take on more responsibilities. Intesa is the most supportive team a young PR pro could ask for! My co-workers keep me accountable for the things I commit to and the things I’m held accountable for to efficiently meet the deadline and deliver top-notch results.
Based on my early learning experiences I’ve shared with my team along this wonderful journey, I know there’s room to improve. I look forward to having a better understanding of how to create meaningful partnerships with local businesses and helping them achieve their communications goals. I’m excited and grateful for this amazing opportunity as I continue to learn from the best!
