Intesa Communications Group has tapped top industry talent Nancy Ives Schroeder as the company’s Director of Public Relations. With extensive public affairs, communications, and healthcare experience, the addition of the former Press Secretary to U.S. Senator John McCain strengthens both the company’s public relations and government affairs expertise. As Director of Public Relations, Schroeder will manage all aspects of Intesa’s day-to-day public relations practice.
Before moving to California, Nancy worked more than 15 years in the nation’s capital serving as long-time Press Secretary and Communications Director for U.S. Senator John McCain, including stints on both of his presidential campaigns, followed by her role as Vice President of Communications at The Vaccine Fund (now Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance).
Nancy later founded NIS Strategies in 2008, where she led corporate strategies for a variety of clients, including Fortune 500 companies and nonprofit organizations. Most recently, Nancy was Senior Director of Communications at West Health, a family of nonprofit organizations dedicated to lowering the cost of healthcare and enabling successful aging through philanthropy, medical research and public policy.
“As our business grows, so does our need for additional executive-level expertise and deep smarts our clients rely on,” said founding partner Margie Newman. “Nancy already has proven an incredible asset to our clients in times of both crisis and opportunity; she’s brilliant in a huddle and her level of professionalism is indispensable in our work.”
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to join Intesa’s dynamic, award-winning team who are on the vanguard of strategic communications and government relations,” Schroeder said. “In the short time I’ve been here, it’s been wonderful to engage in meaningful projects with clients we believe in here in San Diego, and across the nation.”
With 11-year old twins in middle school, Nancy is a busy basketball, softball and baseball mom and is active in her Point Loma community. Her family’s new rescue dog, Cinco, is an office regular. Clients and friends are encouraged to drop by to meet both Nancy and Cinco at the Intesa office in Bankers Hill.
