In 2020, savvy business leaders know that websites are often the first impression that their company makes on potential customers, clients and employees. Effectively analyzing your own web presence can be a daunting prospect, which is why it can be beneficial to bring in outside perspective and expertise every few years to review your website for legal updates, quirky bugs, content optimization, and to ensure new opportunities have not been missed.
Last year, South Bay Community Services (SBCS) tapped Intesa to make much needed improvements to their website. As a 40-year old nonprofit providing services ranging from a trauma-informed preschool to emergency shelter and tax help for some of the most vulnerable among us, SBCS needed help to tell their full story and communicate their impact on the community to clients and potential funders. In short, they were not optimizing their web presence to tout the successful outcomes and meaningful change they have brought to so many lives. It was a missed opportunity.
Intesa’s web guru and digital director, Matt Morse, quickly got to work on a full redesign. He started by organizing their numerous variety of services into an easily digestible list, which was important to telling the full story of SBCS— not only by giving a history of their extensive work in the community, but also by highlighting impressive program statistics that demonstrate the organization’s solid track record of success to potential clients and funders.

Most importantly, the organization wanted a fresh, new web design that looked great on the latest smartphones, tablets, and computers. To achieve that goal, Matt developed a site that uses responsive web design, in which a website adapts itself to a user’s device to give the best experience. And, he did it in a way that utilizes a user-friendly backend, so the staff responsible for maintaining it don’t need to know technical jargon to update the site or publish a news story.
After just a few months, SBCS launched their redesigned website…and, boy, did it get noticed! Web traffic spiked by 41 percent and, in early 2020, Intesa received the exciting news that the redesign had been awarded a “Gold” commendation from AVA Digital Awards by the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals.

We’re proud of this award that highlights a successful partnership with one of our most rewarding clients. Firm partner Maddy Kilkenny has been a donor and supporter of SBCS for nearly 20 years.
